November 2015 - Boston

Project Bead Party
Doing Good Together

Date/Time: Saturday, November 21, 1 - 3:30pm

Location: Cambridge; location given upon registration

Help support Project Bead by attending the DGT Bead Party on Family Volunteer Day to raise money to make it possible for students in Ghana to continue their education and finish high school. Not all children in Ghana have the opportunity to go to high school. In fact, it costs $1,000 per year to attend high school; a cost that many families cannot afford. Project Bead operates as a social enterprise that uses 100% of profits to fund education for children in Ghana. These profits are generated through retailing and wholesaling beaded products made by Ghanaian entrepreneurs. For only $20 per person, you receive a full cup of beads, enough to make four to five bracelets. Premade bracelets will also be available for $10 each. This is a great opportunity for you and your children to make holiday gifts for friends, family and teachers! Open to 15 DGT Boston families. Please register early with your RSVP here!

Ages: Ages five and older are welcome to participate

Time Commitment: Two and one-half hours

Location: Southwest Boston: Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Roslindale, and West Roxbury

Each fall, Ethos sends volunteer groups to the homes of local seniors to help with raking. Please note that they will do their best to place volunteers with yards as conveniently located as possible, but this project may require taking a short bus ride from Forrest Hills to reach the seniors' yards (if traveling by MBTA). Each volunteer needs to fill out a CORI Background Check to participate.
