Fall Bread and Cheese Creek Cleanup
Clean Bread and Cheese Creek
 
Date/Time: Saturday, September 10, 8am - 2pm
 
Location: Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk

Rain or Shine, we clean up the section of Historic Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. This event will be run in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancies annual International Coastal Cleanup and American River's Nation River Cleanup as well as Reclaim the Bay! We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. Every person of every ability level is welcome to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including:
  • Digging out shopping carts and hauling trash to the dumpsters.
  • Running water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek.
  • Assisting with registration, food and snacks set-up, as well as many other less strenuous activities.
Volunteers will be provided with lunch, snacks, and water as well as gloves and trash bags. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but please bring your own if you have them. Learn more online.

Time Commitment: As long or as little as you're able to stay

International Coastal Cleanup at Masonville Cove
The National Aquarium
 
Date/Time: Saturday, September 17, 10am - 1pm
 
Location: Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center - 1000 Frankfurst, Ave., Baltimore

Join the Aquarium Conservation Team (ACT!) to remove harmful marine debris from the shoreline at the Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center campus. Learn about sources and effects of marine debris, and what you can do to help! Debris data collected at this event will contribute to the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup.
 
Ages: Must be at least 10 years old. All volunteers under 18 will need to be supervised by an adult.
 
Time Commitment: Three hours. Registration is required and is available online.

Dogfest Walk-a-Thon and Festival
The Baltimore Humane Society
 
Date/Time: Saturday, September 17. You can sign up for different shifts but the main two shifts we need covered are from 8:30am - 1pm and noon - 5pm
 
Location: 1601 Nicodemus Rd., Reisterstown

The Baltimore Humane Society is hosting its annual fundraiser Dogfest Walk-a-thon and Festival. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year! It is lots of fun for the dogs and the whole family. Activities include games, Walk-a-thon, crafts, dog swim, contests and much more. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt! Jobs include running a game for the dogs like bowling, 20 yard dash or paw painting; directing cars into the parking lot, dumping trash boxes, selling merchandise, working at the kid craft table, or holding leashes while people use port-a-pots.
 
Ages: Volunteers under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by a parent.
 
Time Commitment: Four and one-half to five hours

Community Cleanup Beans & Bread Center
St. Vincent de Paul's Beans & Bread Center
 
Date/Time: Friday, September 23, 1 - 4:30pm
 
Location: 400 South Bond St., Baltimore

Help beautify and promote a cleaner, safer community in the Fells Point area. The Beans & Bread Center is a homeless day resource program that serves 300 people daily with meals, healthcare, showers, laundry, employment services, case management, housing referrals and placements, mail receipt, and telephone access. This event includes a 30-minute tour of Beans & Bread facility, volunteer registration and assignments, and the actual cleanup. Dress comfortably in attire you won't mind getting dirty. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Supplies and tools will be provided.
 
Ages: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old
 
Time Commitment: Three and one-half hours

Help Cleanup Bear Stream Creek

Location: Intersection of Lynch and Park Haven Road (near the pumping station), Dundalk

This event will be run in conjunction with American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland, National Public Lands Day and the Ocean Conservancy as part of annual International Coastal Cleanup Event. We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. Every person of every ability level is welcome to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including:
