This live-streamed kindness event will take place over Zoom at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 22, 2022. (Replay access available to registrants.)

In partnership with Global Peace Women, join Director of DGT's Big-Hearted Families™ Program, Sarah Aadland, MPP, who works to connect families and organizations with the tools they need to raise kids who care and contribute and Ah-Na Mira, GPWLA graduate, Philippines and GPW Philippine Coordinator, who initiated rice-distribution efforts to feed neighboring families during the height of the COVID19 outbreak in 2020.

  • Hands-on service projects to make on the spot, similar to those offered in our DGT Family Service Fairs. Projects will benefit important causes including supporting new mothers, fostering literacy, building food security, welcoming new immigrant neighbors, and caring for animals and the environment

  • Giant cooperative kindness art installation

  • Fun kid-friendly activities including T-shirt printing with The Teehive, temporary "kindness tattoos," a photo booth, and a service dog "meet & greet."  

  • Multicultural performances from COMPAS and Kalpulli Ketzal Coatlicue, Duniya Drum and Dance, and Tay Phuong Lions, along with instrument demos from MacPhail Center for Music

  • Clothesline of donated socks:  If you can, please bring a pair of new socks (any size) to hang on our community Sock Line. All socks will be donated to Simpson Housing Service.

  • Displays of big-hearted resources and products

  • Festival food and drink (e.g. corn dogs, mini donuts, and lemonade) available for purchase

Tickets: $5 each or $20 maximum per family available online or at the door

"For Generations To Come" 2017 Celebration

Items from generous donors will be available for online bidding March 31st (5am) through April 18th (11:45pm). Final bidding (including proxy bids made online) will take place at the event on the evening of April 20th.

Community-Wide Family Service Fair

Brought to you by Doing Good Together™ and Meals on Wheels™

Doing Good Together and Metro Meals on Wheels have teamed up to offer a community-wide DGT™ Family Service Fair. 

Our open house event will feature a series of fun, kid-friendly service projects focused on fighting local food insecurity and supporting senior citizens in need, including:

  • Creating Forever Flowers for isolated senior citizens
  • Decorating place mats to serve meals to homebound senior citizens
  • Decorating lunch bags to serve meals to  homebound senior citizens
  • Downsizing bulk bags of rice for a local food shelf serving low-income families
  • Making sandwiches to serve community members experiencing food insecurity
  • Decorating take-home Kindness Conversation Starter place mats

Visitors will also learn about opportunities to stay engaged as family changemakers.

Ages:  All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate. Come at any point and stay for as long or as little as your schedule allows.
