Get Set for Family Volunteer Day

Doing Good Newsletter

Here's a great way to channel some of that holiday excitement. The Saturday before Thanksgiving is national Family Volunteer Day, which celebrates the power of families to make a difference close to home. It's the perfect opportunity to start your family's giving habit or inaugurate a fun giving tradition. Below are pointers for choosing one fun and effortless way to give back, talking together about what you accomplished, and sharing your story to inspire others.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. We're deeply grateful for all of you.

Make a Difference.....

Use Family Volunteer Day on November 22 to share the values of caring and sharing with your children.

  • Small children? Limited time or transportation? You need the fabulous DIY service projects we developed in partnership with generation for Family Volunteer Day. Each is simple and full of meaning. You'll also love the projects on our website.

  • Find a project in your community you can do for Family Volunteer Day. This site offers myriad ways to discover projects to suit your family 's interests and ages, any day of the year.

  • Tell your story. GenerationOn is asking families to share what they accomplished on this day of family service. When you do, you'll be entered to win a prize pack. Plus, ten families with compelling stories will be profiled in an issue of Family Fun Magazine next fall.

  • At project's end, talk with your family about how you can move from a day of giving into a habit of giving.
