Doing Good Together™ Staff
Jenny Friedman, PhD, an authority on family philanthropy, is the Founder/Executive Director of Doing Good Together™. Jenny has worked with families and children all her life, as a teacher, clinician and volunteer. She has also written over 100 articles on child development, education and parenting for both local and national publications, including Parents, Parenting, and American Baby. She authored the book The Busy Families Guide to Volunteering, and co-authored Doing Good Together: 101 Easy, Meaningful Service Projects for Families, Schools and Communities. As executive director of DGT, Jenny creates unique tools and resources to build caring and civic engagement in children, and finds ways to deepen the impact of kindness and service on a local and national level.
Sarah Aadland, MPP is striving to make family volunteering a meaningful habit for her three animal-loving, social-justice-seeking, mud-pie-making kiddos. As Director of DGT's Big-Hearted Families™ Program, she creates resources for families that want to develop a kindness practice at home. For her own family and for participants in the Big-Hearted Families Membership Circle, Sarah has watched family volunteering create empowered kids, more connected families, and stronger communities. In addition to her children, Sarah tends a large garden, a small flock of chickens, and a habit of mindfulness amid the necessary rituals of parenting.
Nassim Rossi, PhD discovered Doing Good Together™ in the midst of a frustrating search for opportunities to volunteer together with her husband and three young girls. She was so inspired by DGT's mission that she began volunteering for them and eventually transitioned from a career in academia to work for the organization. As the Director of Doing Good Together™ Family Service Fairs, Nassim organizes family-friendly events bringing people together to create fun, hands-on projects supporting an array of critical needs in the community. Nassim's favorite part of her job is consulting with and testing out new ideas on her three wise-beyond-their-years advisors, who, conveniently, happen to live with her.
Laurie Levi, MA, MSW has long believed in the power of volunteering to make a difference in our world. Laurie didn't discover Doing Good Together™ until her children were teenagers but she was so excited by the idea of families volunteering together that she offered her services to DGT as a volunteer. Laurie has worked and volunteered in a variety of different nonprofit and educational organizations. As the Director of Administration and Family Volunteer Connections Program, Laurie coordinates DGT's monthly Family Friendly Volunteer Opportunities listings and handles the behind the scenes administrative details that go into running this awesome nonprofit.
Diana Allard learned about Doing Good Together™ and decided it was crucial to share it with the masses. As the Director of Marketing and Communications, she hopes to do just that. She loves the fact that there's something for everyone to do when it comes to kindness, service, and making the world a better place. Along with her "at home" work raising two kids, Diana has previous experience in marketing communications, freelance writing & editing, and entrepreneurial endeavors. She is a graduate of Drake University and lives in in Medina, MN with her husband, son, and daughter.
Jessica Taylor, discovered Doing Good Together™ through her search to find meaningful volunteer work together with her husband and two young daughters. She was compelled to begin volunteering for DGT™ after being inspired by the organization's mission. After a year of volunteering with the organization , Jessica now devotes her time to working for the organization. As the Assistant Director of the Doing Good Together Family Service Fair Program, Jessica helps organize family-friendly events which bring people together to create fun, hands-on projects supporting an array of critical needs in the community. Jessica enjoys interacting with different families through the many service fairs that she attends, and she's proud of the growing bond between herself and her daughters through their meaningful service work.
Julia Hanson, MPNA, is excited to contribute to Doing Good Together’s
mission, which hits close to home—she is striving to raise her own young
daughter in a way that encourages empathy, generosity, and kindness. As
DGT’s Development Director, Julia works to raise funds and awareness for Doing Good Together, while cultivating opportunities for donors to help advance the mission of the organization. With nearly five years of experience in fund development, Julia enjoys stewarding donors and connecting them to causes that they love. Julia was moved by Doing
Good Together’s purpose—empowering families to raise children who care and
contribute—and looks forward to connecting more donors to DGT. She and her husband live southwest of Minneapolis with their spunky little pug, their adorable toddler-age daughter, and a backyard full of urban wildlife that
they enjoy watching together.
