Creative Ways to Give

We encourage families to talk to their children about sharing money as well as sharing time, no matter how much or little you have to give. We provide a variety of ways to begin a tradition of giving in your family; check out our Charitable Giving page for some ideas. But we just ran across an article about a woman who challenged her friends to find even more personal and creative ways to give back. And, says the article’s author, “Heartwarming hijinks have ensued ever since.” Perhaps this month you could begin your own “Secret Society for Creative Philanthropy” by providing each member of your family with a small amount of money and giving them the freedom to decide how to donate it. Then, in a few weeks, come together for a celebratory dinner to talk about how each of you decided to make a difference.
