DGT/New York Launches!
DGT’s New York Volunteer Opportunities Listing!
We’re excited to announce that beginning on Sept. 1, 2013, Doing Good Together/New York will provide a curated listing of compelling family-friendly volunteer activities in the local area. Families can subscribe to the free Volunteer Opportunities Listing. The new listing will be modeled after one we have long published for the Twin Cities. “Parents everywhere tell us they want to volunteer with their kids, but have difficulty finding family-friendly opportunities in their communities,” says DGT Executive Director Jenny Friedman.
Past listings for Minneapolis–St. Paul have included packing food for low-income seniors, mentoring a child, serving dinner at a homeless shelter and planting trees along the river. The activities of our new affiliate in New York are being coordinated by Natalie Silverstein, MPH, a parent of three who lives in New York City. “Community service is an important part of our family life, and I hope the Doing Good Together/New York listing will provide useful information for parents who search for fun, engaging volunteer projects like I do.”
If you have a family-friendly volunteer opportunity to share, please contact Silverstein at Natalie@doinggoodtogether.org.
And of course, we’d love for you to pass along the news to anyone you know in the NYC area!
