Gleeful Deliveries

The girls were all smiles as we got ready to deliver Meals on Wheels last Friday, especially Miss Kindergarten.

A short break from school last week gave us all some much needed leisure time (if you can call crafting and baking in our pajamas leisure, which I do!).

After such a lazy day at home, I was reluctant to tell Miss Kindergarten that our big outing the next day would be making deliveries for Meals on Wheels instead of heading to the skating rink, the sled hill, or one of the many big, indoor playgrounds that make Minnesota winters bearable.

Once again, I was worried over nothing. Far from being met with whiny pleas for a trip to the library, my announcement of a delivery day was met with cheers!

Miss Kindergarten’s enthusiasm must be due, in part, to the fact that she’s had to listen to her sister and I share our stories of kind and talkative clients and the occasional dish of hard candy while she was away at school.

As we traveled our route, it became clear that the deliveries themselves are a treat for both girls. They each enjoy a specific task: one prefers to handle the desserts while the other wants to carry the milk. Miss Kindergarten was very proud that she remembered our route from her last trip (this summer), and she eagerly helped find the right door number. Little Miss Three, a veteran by now, took it upon herself to cheer “Meals on Wheels” as loudly as possible as the door opened.

My little duo delivered almost as many smiles as they received.
