Books for Africa collects, sorts, ships and distributes books to African children. You can help them end the book famine in Africa by gathering any old fiction, reference books (2003 or newer) and textbooks (1998 or newer) sitting neglected in your basement. Ask family and friends for their literary castoffs, too. In 2014 alone, the group has shipped 2.6 million books. Book guidelines, donation instructions and warehouse hours are at Books for Africa.
Talk to your child:
- What would it be like to have no books in our house or in your school?
- What are some things you have learned, or would like to learn, from books?
