Settle in for a day of coloring, and spread some happiness with your children’s handiwork. Color A Smile collects drawings from schoolchildren, then distributes them to nursing homes, Meals on Wheels programs, our troops and more. The goal is to make people smile! You are invited to send any number of drawings (address is on the website). Be sure to read aloud the notes of appreciation posted on the Color A Smile “thank you” page. If you’d like, decorate a box that will become a collection site for artwork you plan to send to Color A Smile!
Talk to your child:
- How do you feel when you get a surprise in the mail?
- Do you know someone feeling sad or lonely? What kinds of things can you do to help cheer them up?
Book to share: The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. Ages 4-8. When Cornelia Augusta catches hearts from the sky, she must decide how to give them away.
