Settle in for a day of coloring, then use your children’s handiwork to spread some happiness. Color A Smile collects crayon drawings from schoolchildren and distributes them to nursing homes, Meals on Wheels programs, our troops and more. The goal is to make people smile! You are invited to send any number of drawings to Color A Smile. Be sure to read aloud the notes of appreciation posted on the Color A Smile “thank you” page. If you’d like, decorate a box where drawings can accumulate until you’re ready to send off a new batch!

Talk to your child: How do you think the person who gets your drawing will feel? How do you feel when you get a surprise in the mail?

Book to share: The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. Ages 4-8. When Cornelia Augusta catches hearts from the sky, she must decide what heart to give to what friend.
