Here’s a bucket list you can complete in one summer, and the one that will make this summer legendary in your family. See how much you can check off as you firm up plans for sleepovers and barbeques. Spending part of your summer on kindness will encourage your children to keep caring and compassion in their regular routine, in school and out.
Talk to your child:

  • Why is it important to spend time helping others?
  • Name a time when you helped someone and a time when someone helped you.

Book to share: Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed, by Emily Pearson. Ages 4-8. You’ll see that kindness is contagious and watch it circle the globe in just a few days. Mary, as ordinary as any other kid, starts it all with a special delivery. The rhythm and rhyme of this book make it a fun read-aloud experience, too.
