Doing Good Together™ Staff

MiaLisa Millares JD, Ed. M.(she/her) joined DGT in October 2021 as the new Executive Director with 10 years of leadership experience at two Minnesota nonprofits. Mia has worked with families, youth and children throughout her career and has a background in outreach, development, communications, and volunteer management. As executive director of DGT, Mia is excited about the opportunity to build partnerships with new organizations and to continue the mission of promoting caring, kindness, and family engagement on the local and national level.


Laurie Levi, MA, MSW has long believed in the power of volunteering to make a difference in our world. Laurie didn't discover Doing Good Together™ until her children were teenagers but she was so excited by the idea of families volunteering together that she offered her services to DGT as a volunteer. Laurie has worked and volunteered in a variety of different nonprofit and educational organizations. As the Director of Administration and Family Volunteer Connections Program, Laurie coordinates DGT's monthly Family Friendly Volunteer Opportunities listings and handles the behind the scenes administrative details that go into running this awesome nonprofit.


Leah Lundquist, MPP (she/her) enjoys supporting families in engaging more deeply with each other and their community. As Director of Development and Events, Leah coordinates DGT’s Family Service Fair program and family-friendly events including an annual Festival of Giving and Spring Auction. Leah brings to the work extensive background in leadership and organizational training in nonprofits, foundations and higher education. Leah's favorite part of her job is testing out all the great DGT resources, book suggestions and project ideas with her three curious, big-hearted kids.


Nancy Bonise Julmiste (she/her) joined Doing Good Together because the mission of love and kindness is dear to her heart. It has been her lifetime goal to help others that are vulnerable with the intent to serve as an advocate through education and engagement projects. She is an enthusiastic Social Worker, with more than 12 years of extensive work experience. Her target population has been children, youth, emerging adults, and families. She has worked in various sectors with public, non-profit, and for-profit agencies in Miami Dade. Most of her work has been in prevention initiatives in collaboration or partnership with Child Care Centers, Early Head Start programs, Community -Based organizations, Schools-Public/Private, and Foster Care. Nancy is excited to join the Doing Good Together team as the Miami Family Service Fair Coordinator.


Jessica Neary, BA (she/her) joined DGT in October 2022 as the new Senior Editor with over a decade of experience in writing and editing for nonprofits and small businesses. Jessica has served various communities throughout her career and has a background in communications and volunteer management. She prides herself in full-time momming her two kids and mini doodle, keeping up with her yoga practice, daydreaming about her family's next trip to Disney, and volunteering for the local elementary school. As Senior Editor of DGT, Jessica is excited about getting to shine up the story sharing elements of DGT and its partner nonprofit organizations and to join in the mission of promoting caring, kindness, and family engagement within local and national communities. 


Julie Prokosch (she/her) is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and has been working in marketing and communications since 2011, helping businesses and nonprofits develop engaging communications. She is passionate about growing and audience and establishing trust by providing transparent and educational content. Julie is DGT’s Marketing, Sales, and Communications Director, and in her role she maintains the website, creates and writes social media posts and helps with new content promotion strategy. In her free time, she reads, practices yoga, bikes, and spends time with her family.


Emily Topinka, BA (she/her) has been finding volunteer opportunities for her family through DGT since her children were toddlers. Emily has volunteered extensively for various organizations in her community, and looks forward to helping others find volunteer opportunities that fit their lifestyle as a Volunteer Listings Coordinator. She has a background in writing and communications, and hopes to use those skills to help advance DGT’s mission of empowering families to raise children who care and contribute. She lives in Minnesota, where she enjoys reading, camping, baking, hiking, and spending time with her big-hearted children.

Jenny Friedman, PhD, an authority on family philanthropy, is the Founder/Past Executive Director of Doing Good Together™. Jenny has worked with families and children all her life, as a teacher, clinician and volunteer. She has also written over 100 articles on child development, education and parenting for both local and national publications, including ParentsParenting, and American Baby. She authored the book The Busy Families Guide to Volunteeringand co-authored Doing Good Together: 101 Easy, Meaningful Service Projects for Families, Schools and Communities. As executive director of DGT until October 2021, Jenny created unique tools and resources to build caring and civic engagement in children, and found ways to deepen the impact of kindness and service on a local and national level.
