The volunteers at the Family Service Fair get to put aside their own cares for a short time to do something that will help other families in their community, families who might not have sufficient means to take care of their infant at the moment of birth. Volunteers can see that there are people who need them, and every person, no matter what age, is able to help in some way. In the act of helping others, we all feel blessed, more satisfied, and fulfilled at the idea that the small things we do can make a big impact on someone else. Thank you for helping us with that.

Beyond the obvious benefits to charity, hosting the Service Fair was a great team-building activity that allowed coworkers to see another side of each other, and create something wonderful side-by-side with their family. “Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly was thrilled to offer our elders the wonderful paper flowers made at your DGT Family Service Fair. Once delivered to the agency’s Lake Street office, our volunteers carried a fabulous array of bouquets spanning the rainbow into our elders’ hearts in the cold month of November. One elder commented that the flowers reminded her of the brightly colored confetti scattered about at her wedding fifty years ago. We had the pleasure of working with Doing Good Together last night in Minneapolis. Their mission is ‘Empowering families to raise children who care and contribute,’ and we were the lucky recipients of hand-tied tug toys [for our rescue dogs]! While the families were working, [we were] able to engage in meaningful conversations about the importance of animal kindness and welfare, and field some interesting questions from the kids!
