My 6-year-old daughter loved the variety of activities in the Kindness Kit. It led to conversations about hunger and thankfulness. She even donated some of her allowance to a local food bank! She has also taped a thank-you note to our delivery workers and used the enclosed card stock to write notes to friends. Thank you! I’m so glad you do what you do. If there’s anything we actually need in this world, it’s kindness.

Here’s what’s included!

KINDNESS KIT CHECKLIST

This unique checklist will guide you through your Kindness Kit activities. Post it somewhere visible in your home. Fill in the blanks and check each box as you go. Celebrate completing each project by cutting out a badge to glue onto your rainbow.

DRAW YOUR EMOTIONS

Read three picture books (or find a good YouTube read aloud!). Get creative drawing your worry monsters, your peaceful pets and your hope gardens. Share them with each other and have a great conversation around an emotion.

GROWING UP ANTI-RACIST FAMILY CHALLENGE

Read and discuss a book, watch and discuss a video or learn some dance moves and discuss lyrics once a week as you learn about anti-racism as a family. After completing the Challenge, research anti-racism efforts in your school, faith community or city. Take action by writing a letter and drawing an image to advocate for or express your appreciation for anti-racist community changes.

NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT

Get outside together to appreciate your backyard, local park or local nature reserve. Talk about what you are grateful for. Bring along gloves and a bag in case you see any litter that needs to be picked up or leaves that need to be pulled out of storm drains.

FOREVER FLOWERS

Bring a smile to a someone you might be rushing past lately. Create a bouquet of tissue flowers for your neighbor or a loved one. Deliver with a Spring or Summer poem or kind message.

PLANT A ROW (OR A POT)

Do you like to garden? Consider planting an extra row or even a few additional plants to donate to a local food pantry. It will improve the health of your community, relieve hunger and make an impact on obesity and other food-related diseases. Plant your own garden or find a community garden near you. You can find an interested local food pantry near you on the AmpleHarvest.org website. For a smaller time commitment, plant an herb in a pot for a neighbor or loved one.

LOVE FOR OUR ELDERS

Mail cheer to an elder by coloring our sunshine coloring page and writing a kind letter. Mail to Love for Our Elders at P.O. Box 24248, Cleveland, OH, 44124 https://loveforourelders.org/letters
Don't forget an elder in your life! Create a second coloring page and letter for this special person.

PLASTIC REDUCTION CHALLENGE

Celebrate Earth Day every day with the DGT Plastic Reduction Challenge! Work together to discover all the plastic in your home and brainstorm ways to reduce your use of single-use plastic.
